Remove Mildew Smell From Carpet
To remove mildew odor
from carpet you must be certain about a few things. First,
make sure the carpet is dry. The padding must be dry also. Then shampoo
the carpet following the manufacturer's instructions.
Once the carpet is cleaned,
allow it to dry thoroughly. In the health care industry we use floor
fans to dry the area and we don't allow traffic until it is all dry.
This should eliminate the mildew
odor; however, mildew
smell in shampooed carpets is also a problem. Often times
what our carpet experts have found is that the padding isn't dry and
allows the mildew to grow. Or the flooring under the carpet padding is
the source of dampness and mildew growth. In any case, you'll
need to dry it up and throw away anything that is ruined. Make sure the
moisture problem is cleared up before doing anything else.
You can treat your car the same
way. Removing mildew smell in auto
carpets requires the same effort. Don't forget you could
have a hole in your floor board, or the moisture source is from
everyone's feet.
There is a problem with mildew
car smell removal. It can be more complex of a problem than just a
mildew carpet smell. Your best bet is to read How to Get Rid of
Black
Mold, where you will find the easiest method to completely
eliminate
car smells.
Many times I'm asked, "How do
you get mildew smell out of carpet?", and usually those people are
talking about carpet in the basement, camper, and even in the
boat. You have to solve
the moisture problem first, or use more technological solutions
found in the black mold book mentioned above.
Even a vinyl tile basement can
have mold smells. Mold and mildew only need small amounts of organic
matter (sometimes just dust) and moisture to grow.
I've spent a lot of time
researching the easiest ways to eliminate these mildew and mold carpet
smells. And I believe in the easiest and quickest ways to success.
