Spores
Mold spores are microscopic but
can have
a gigantic health effect on you and your family. Mold spores are
created by mold when it is reproducing. The mold releases these spores
into the air. Being microscopic, they can float around on the most
delicate of air currents all throughout your home.
Guess where the mold spores land? Anywhere with even the tiniest bit of
moisture. Makes sense doesn't it? Once there the mold spore begins to
do its thing and reproduce. After millions of mold cells are produced
is when you can actually see it. All of these cells are reproducing and
spreading the spores all over the place.
You need to clean up mold whenever and wherever you see it because it
finds many more hidden places to grow. Look between you toilet tank and
the toilet bowl and you should find a very robust mold farm growing.
The mold spores can get just about anywhere.
Mold has become an ever increasing problem due to new home
construction. Back in the 1970's during the energy crisis, engineers
began building homes that were ever increasingly air tight. Well if it
is air tight it is mold tight!
We bring mold into our homes everyday. It is on your clothes, it comes
in when the air exchanges as we open the door and so on. You can never
have ZERO mold. What happens is those spores 'take root' so to speak
and begin breeding. If they find their way to a remote section of the
house and get out of control, then you may have a mold problem.
Mold naturally grows in the attic, in the basement, in the crawl space,
and sometimes within walls. If left undisturbed, it will continue to
grow and may not even have an effect on you. It's when it gets
disturbed and begins spewing the mold spores all through your living
space that makes you sick. This can happen during remodelling.
Of course if you have a leak in the roof or a basement flood, you need
to attend to it and dry everything out. If you allow it to just stay as
is, then you will eventually be overrun by mold problems. The mold
spores can wind up anywhere.
